When I first started self-publishing several years ago the publishing industry was already in the throes of massive change. To learn about the new world I was entering I followed a few key people in the industry such as Joe Konrath, Catherine Ryan Howard and David Gaughran.
I also joined ALLi (the Alliance of Independent Authors – the professional organisation for self-published authors) which is not only a great source of useful information for authors but also an opportunity to meet other writers, find readers and make new friends. Now, a few years later, I’m editing my fourth novel and also coach and run workshops for writers and aspiring authors, sharing with them the sort of information I found useful on my own writer journey.
This week I hosted the first in a series of eight online workshops to take you from publishing to marketing your book, including how to use social media effectively. Whether your question is about how to self-publish, how to promote and sell your book, or how to make the most of your online presence, the Stepping into Publishing workshops can help. You can dip in and out as you please, finding those that fit your needs.
Learn, have fun and be inspired!
Many traditionally published authors are taking control of their back catalogue once the rights have expired, and also self-publishing new work. Such authors are known as hybrid. They are joining other writers who choose to go down the self-publishing route. Whichever way you choose, the more information you have at your fingertips the better.
Get on track. Learn what you need to know, and have fun. Sign up for a workshop today!
